Appendix C “Consider the Heavens”: a Macroscopic and a Microscopic View of the Universe
In Psalms 8:4, David must have had the same thoughts that I have had on these beautiful warm days and nights of spring, when he wrote in Psalms 8:4 “Consider the heavens…what is man that Thou are mindful of him?”
Well now consider this: Here am I, just one of over 6 Billion people sitting on a cosmic speck of dust called Earth which is a part of something even bigger called a solar system. Our solar system is a part of something even bigger called a galaxy, consisting of hundreds of Billions of stars. Our galaxy is a part of something even bigger which is made up of hundreds of Billions of galaxies. Could it be that those that these hundreds of Billions of galaxies are a part of something even bigger that is part of something even bigger and bigger ad infinitum (means goes on and on and on forever)?
But that is not ALL there is to consider:
Now consider that you are made up of something even smaller called cells, hundreds of Billions of them. These cells are made up of something even smaller called atoms, hundreds of Billions of them. These are atoms are made some things even smaller called protons electrons and neutrons, hundreds of Billions of them. These protons electrons are made up of some thing even smaller called neutrinos, photons, gravitons, quarks, charms and 135 other sub atomic particles, hundreds of Billions of them. Could it be that these 140 subatomic particles made up of something even smaller and they of even smaller ad infinitum….
Now further consider this: we have here outlined 8 levels of matter, starting with the subatomic quark level to the level of untold billions of galaxies. These 8 levels are just the ones we know about.
Now consider this: most of these levels we have talked were unknown before the days of powerful telescopes and electron microscopes. If Jesus tarries his return how many other levels going both bigger and smaller will be discovered in the next 100 years?
Is there a reoccurring number?
How much is a Billion?
Consider this: with 86,400 seconds in a day, a Billion seconds is equal to 31 years, 259 days, 1 hour. 45 minutes and 40 seconds EXACTLY.
The simple math tells us from the billions and billions level is 10(88 exponential number) bigger than the subatomic quark level. 10 (88 exponential number mark) is number that has no name at this time.
And ALL this was a product of chance, right? Even Darwin would be forced to reconsider his theory if he knew what we know today.
Now I ask you again to yourself “consider the universe ….who am I that God even knows I exist”. Yet I DO know that You do know all about me love me because I have experienced that first hand for myself” (my paraphrase of Psalms 8:4) As we say in Appalachia, “Put THAT in your pipe and smoke it awhile.” In other words ponder that thought for a long time until the implications sink in. |
